Dharma Lessons

Part of our journey of homeschooling is making sure that we are following the teachings of Buddha and incorporating them into our everyday lives.

Today we talked about the Dharma wheel and the Eight-Fold Path. While the book only talks about the wheel itself, I searched the internet for something that we could color and create so that The Monk could really get an understanding of what each of the spokes on the wheel represent and why we need to try and practice the Eight-Fold Path in our day-to-day. We had a lot of fun with this (and not just because we happened to be sitting outside on the patio during a lovely, sunny Spring day) because we had some really great discussions about what each one of the spokes means and how we can practice these steps as we go through our day. One of my favorite responses by The Monk was how we can practice Right Speech by not hollering at each other when we get frustrated. This is something that we both do from time to time and need to practice and work on.
