| I had thought that during the summer, when the boy was coloring or playing outside that I would be able to keep this blog updated better than when I was working, but I have discovered, that now as a SAHM, I am much busier than I ever thought possible. Part of the reason is that there is a TON of housewifey things that I am taking care of, which seems to have multiplied now that I am at home more. One of the things that I have taken on as part of my SAHM duties is try to simplify our lives and prepare our family for the winter through such old-school, traditional methods such as canning. Recently, we visited one of the local pick-your-own farms that seem to surround us in the country where my parents, sister and I picked over 10 pounds of cherries. 10 POUNDS! Needless to say, all of these perfectly garnet colored goodness needed to be pitted and then drowned in a simple syrup for canning. I was able to yield 10 pints of canned cherry goodness, which will, hopefully, allow me to bake up a delicious pie come February, giving us a burst of summer in the middle of winter. |
