This week, however, we were able to start on our Star Wars unit for reading and next week, we will be getting into space and planets for science (see how I put that all together?). I'm pretty excited about that. I know that The Monk is too, although he seems to be over Star Wars at the moment (I mean, he already knows more about the canon and characters than I do, and that's saying something!), so I guess I can't blame him for his newly found interest in The Avengers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Aye, me - sigh. Well, he is 7 after all.
I was able to get a new quilting book (like I need more projects to add to my ever-growing list), and I did plot out some new quilts on graph paper (which makes quilting easier, actually), but when I'll be able to actually get around to making those quilts...who knows. I'm going to try though. I have several I need to finish up first. Of course.
The Monk had a pretty good week as he moved up in rank in Cub Scouts from a Wolf to a Bear. That was pretty exciting. Plus, he earned 7 more belt loops (he has 14 now), a gold arrow head, and 2 silver arrow heads. I'm glad in the way that homeschooling allows us to actually do more, which seems to carry into his scouting. We don't actually have to work that hard to incorporate what he needs for his academic achievements for Scouts into our current curriculum, just an extra project here or there. It's really cool actually. So he gets to earn more achievements for Scouts simply because he's homeschooled. Can't argue with that!
I'm really hoping that this rain goes away. I mean, it's not that we don't need it, we do, but I'd rather see it spread out over a couple of weeks (you know, with a rain here and there), rather than an entire week filled with rain. And it's not just light drizzles, either. We're talking downpours and flooding of the backyard. Ugh.
Well, I hope that your week went well! Cheers!
