into the future. And boy, am I falling behind or what?!? I can't believe that I have allowed this much time to pass without me posting what we've been up to. I guess I figure that since I post most everything on Facebook for friends and family, that I don't need to post it here. But, I do want to post things here...otherwise, why even have this site at all. Sigh.
Ok, well, we certainly have been busy enjoying the fall. Both the Monk and I love this time of the year (The Hubs, no so much, because it means breaking down the garden and preparing everything outside for the upcoming winter months, which in our region, can be BRUTAL!). We've been able to get into the mountains to see the leaving changing as well as doing all kinds of cool crafts and activities for Halloween (my FAVE holiday!) There is pumpkin spice everything in the stores and the smells of the autumn are permeating the air. Harvest festivals abound and the weather is calling for sweaters, warm socks, and fires in the fireplace. Autumn is awesome.
This year was The Monk's first time carving his own pumpkin (yes, I know he's 7, but knives are dangerous and he had to earn his knife safety in Cub Scouts before I would let him cut his own pumpkin. I don't care if that's being too overprotective), and he thought the experience was less than appealing. Which is funny since this kid has no problem with being up to his knee caps in mud. But, apparently, mud and pumpkin slime are two different things and slime is just not his thing. At least, that is what he told me. I don't mind the slime because that means I get to harvest the pumpkin seeds for a healthy snack for around the house. Of course, that also means that I had to clean out HIS pumpkin because, and I quote, "no way, uh uh, I'm not touching that slime!" Goodness. But he had no problem with hacking into it to create his own spooky decoration. Boys.
