Ok, so I know that it may appear that I have been neglecting my blog...oh, alright, I admit it, I've been neglecting my blog. I can't seem to help it. I've had a ton of other things that I've rather been doing with my time at this point. We are on break, and truth be told, I have taken advantage of being on break. No computer, no blogging, no planning, no school. We have watched some movies, played some video games, hung out, gone on a road trip, and just relaxed. It was very much needed.
On our break, we went to Minnesota to visit my BFF and her family. The Monk and I went roadtripping with her daughters to get there (Nebraska is completely boring, btw, if you haven't been...nothing but corn fields!), which was actually rather entertaining with two teenage girls and a little boy. Once in Minnesota, my BFF and I went on a self-guided quilt shop hop! I spent so much money, but there were too many goodies to pass up (including some fabulous rooster fabric that I'm going to make placemats out of!). Plus, there's always fabric to be found in one place that isn't in another - at least, that's what I told my husband. ;)
It was nice to hang out with her, drink some fabulous wine, and watch the lightening bugs spread out across the fields of the surrounding farms. The Monk loved being able to run around on the farm (and not have to do any of the chores!). And even though his allergies were rampant, he just couldn't help but play with their German Short-hair in that two pups-wrestling-kind of way.
However, all good things must come to an end, and we have been on hiatus long enough. Although we aren't going to just jump right back into our lessons, it is time to gently ease our way back into the swing of things. So, some light learning is coming up next week, which we will continue through August, when the public school across the street comes back to life. Once that happens, we will begin our full schedule once again and our adventures in homeschooling will continue. Cheers to you all and I hope that you are all having fun as summer starts winding down!
