Luckily for us, all of this tied into the unit that was up for his science studies, so to be able to do all of this and tie it to what we were doing in science was awesome. But, because this one was so heavy in science, we're going to stash science for a bit and try to tackle a subject the The Monk has just recently become interested in and one that has always be near and dear to me - Greek Myths!
Well, a few weeks have gone by and we have been going through our unit on dinosaurs. We had a whole lot of fun with this one, since it is one of The Monk's favorite topics. We made some really great fossil castings, played with some to build our own dinos, mapped out the timeline for dino life, and finished with researching and writing about the dinosaur that he thought was the most interesting (he chose the Therazinasauras). We also were able to get in some quality snuggle time because there are certainly a bunch of wonder documentaries that discuss dinosaurs. The Monk's personal suggestion - Walking With Dinosaurs (we were able to find it on Netflix). It's a great series that talks about dinosaurs and moves through all the ages rather seamlessly.

How it all started...I was a public school teacher for 6 years in a very urban middle school for both 7th and 8th grade. As the red-tape got thicker and teaching became more of a business rather than a place to prepare young minds to enter into the world, I decided that if I was going to work that hard to give an education to someone, it should be my own son. So, my adventures in homeschooling has begun. Follow us on Instagram!
